Name Mono is a monospace sibling of Name Sans, which is an interpretation of the tile mosaic name tablets of the NYC Subway. The architects and craftworkers who designed & laid these tiles used a letter construction that was part geometric and part grotesque, with typographic optical corrections often either exaggerated or totally missing. Name Mono interprets these ideas into a monospace family, which is charming and fun, yet also highly focused on utility in code, data, writing, and more.

While the Italics of Name Sans aim to be elegant and simple, the Italics of Name Mono are a more free and expressive take on the concept, yielding more visual contrast, and in turn allowing better ergonomics in code.

Prerelease Info AT Name Mono

AT Name Mono is a prerelease family: you can get it today for a discounted price, and you will receive free updates as it grows and improves in the future.

Why call it a prerelease? There are still things being actively figured out and worked on, and it is subject to design changes in future version updates. But, it is available now because it offers a lot of value already. We also believe that often, the best way to learn is by working in public. In that spirit, if you have any questions or ideas, please reach out!

If you would like to see further details and follow the project, check it out on Future Fonts, a fantastic service for finding and supporting prerelease fonts from amazing designers.

You can buy AT Name Mono here or from Future Fonts – either way, you will ultimately be buying the same fonts and Licensing. On this website, you can buy either the the full family or individual styles. On Future Fonts, you can buy only the full family, but the upgrade experience is a little more streamlined.
